Give Prayer a Try

It’s easy to think about it.

It’s rolls off the tongue when we talk about it.

It completely consumes us when we worry about it.

But the question is – are we PRAYING about it?

Sometimes life’s volume button appears to get stuck. Situations seem louder than the gentle whispers of our sweet Savior. It’s so easy to {accidentally} tune the truth out, isn’t it?

We can think until our head hurts, talk until we have no voice and worry until we make ourselves sick. And then we try praying.

Are we treating prayer as a last resort? When all else fails, try praying about it?

If this is the case, oh my sweet friend, we have this thing backwards.

The bible says to “pray without ceasing” {1 Thessalonians 5:17}. It also reminds us to trust in the Lord completely and not lean on our own understanding {Proverbs 3:5}.

We can’t do this on our own. We weren’t created to carry these weighty burdens. We were designed with a need that could only be filled by the saving grace of our Savior.

Before you waste another moment thinking, a breath talking or an anxious stomach worrying – pray. Take it to your knees in prayer.

Because no matter the situation, God has not forgotten your name. He hasn’t forgotten where you are and what you are facing today.

Rest in this truth, my friend. Prayer is such a powerful connection God has given us. There is power in our words. Use them for uplifting and encouraging yourself and others who so desperately need it.

You may not be able to change the situation, BUT the greatest thing you can do is pray through it!

Prayers For My Husband – Keeping Him Covered

Here’s a little #TBT to start off today’s post!

Monday I began to share my heart about keeping our husbands covered in prayer in Prayers For My Husband (Click here to read Monday’s Post!)

I don’t want to waste any time today. Let’s jump right in and pick up where we left off!

I pray you join me in praying for our men! Fill in the blank with your hubby’s name and let’s pray. ❤

God, I thank you so much for my husband! I thank you for hand-picking him just for me and always knowing exactly what I need.

Please touch _____’s HEART. I pray that he always remains sensitive to the Holy Spirit. Keep his heart pure and set on You at all times. I pray nothing pollutes his view of You. {Galatians 5:16 / Psalm 51:10}

God, please minister to ______’s STOMACH. Let him hunger for Your truth and Your presence. I pray he doesn’t find satisfaction in worldly things and is sensitive to when he needs more of you. {Matthew 5:6 / John 3:30}

Give ______’s LEGS the strength to courageously carry our family down the road you’ve called us to walk down. Help him to understand his responsibility as the head of the house and move forward with the decisions You have impressed upon him to make. {Joshua 1:9}

Touch _______’s KNEES and let them be flexible both physically and spiritually. Whether good times or bad, let him be content in all circumstances and give you all the glory. {Philippians 4:11-14}

Bless _______’s FEET and every where they touch the ground. I pray that your favor precedes his every step and that you connect him with the right people to accomplish your perfect will. Let his feet stand firm upon Your Word and not be moved when stormy seas rise against him. {Psalm 18:33,36 / Psalm 90:17}

I pray you continue lifting up your husband in prayer daily! Whether you use this prayer or something of your own, I pray you find joy in keeping your man covered completely in prayer!

Check back this week for a special guest’s prayer tomorrow for “Prayers For My Husband in Ministry” & “Prayers For My Future Husband” for all my single friends out there!

Love you guys!

Jesus Prays Too!

Being out of town this last week, I’ll be honest – I’ve picked up my bible maybe once. Papa encouraged me to read Psalms chapter 18, so without hesitation I jumped in and read it.

One thing is for sure, when you’re hungry physically, you’re grumpy, impatient with people and feeling those hunger pains. Spiritually speaking, it’s the same thing. Your spirit desperately needs to be fed and you’ll be fully aware of that emptiness pretty quickly.

After a sleepless night, it wasn’t easy to get up early to spend some quiet time in God’s Word, but I knew it would refresh me. I didn’t really have a plan, honestly, so I started skimming through Matthew, Mark, Luke and John hoping to find something to chew on this morning. And oh did I find something worthwhile! 🙂

It’s Palm Sunday. Pastor Mike’s message last night challenged me to prepare myself for the upcoming week of Easter. So I find myself hanging out in John chapter 17 with Jesus praying. And honey, I’m clinging to every word that comes from his lips.

I love this so much because it’s broken down into three sections here.

1 – Jesus prays for himself.
2 – Jesus prays for his disciples.
3 – Jesus prays for all believers.

Jesus begins by praying for himself. He asks that God glorifies him so in return, he can glorify God. He is approaching the final days of his life and has almost completed the works that he was born to accomplish. Ask yourself this morning – if these are my final moments, have I accomplished what God has called me to do for Him?

Secondly, he prays for his disciples. His bros. His best friends. His ministry partners. He asks God to protect these precious men he has poured his life into shaping and teaching. He prays for their unity. He desires that they have HIS joy in their hearts. And he asks that God sanctifies (sets them apart and makes them holy) just as Jesus himself was sanctified. You who serve in ministry – did you know Jesus has your back? He loves you dearly and he prays to the Father concerning you.

Lastly, Jesus prays for all believers. His beloved children. He wants us all to be unified and connected. He wants the world to know we are loved by God. This part I am so in love with – Jesus wants us to be with him and he wants us to see his glory. Remember Moses on the mountain? He saw the glory of God and his face glowed from being in the presence of His glory! Have you experienced the glory of God?

Even Jesus knew the importance of taking time alone to talk to God. That’s where he was refreshed and equipped to do the will of his Father.

No matter what is going on in your life, know this – if you have surrendered your life to Jesus, he stands up for you. He prays for you and he longs for you to experience his glory. He wants you to never be the same. He wants you to have his perfect joy.

Whether you’re in full time ministry or simply trying to live a life that other people see a difference in your life at school or work, he sees your sacrifices. He holds every tear drop you’ve cried. He wants you to life a fulfilling life, but it’s only possible when you fully surrender to his will – just like Jesus did to his Father.
