It’s hard enough being a mom. Taxi driver, short order cook, personal shopper, accountant, lunch packer, nose wiper, bath giver….
But being the spiritual leader of the home, as Ephesians 5:22-24 says, holds quite the responsibility as well.
I love my man. God knows he’s some kind of special to handle a crazy southern woman like me without needing prescription medication. I love you, baby!
Gary is an RN and works a minimum of 12-hour days full-time in a high stress environment that can quickly escalate to life and death situations. He’s the father of our two amazing and incredible curly-headed booger heads. He is a pastor and serves our church faithfully desiring to point others to a life changing relationship with Jesus Christ. He’s such a hard worker and has always put his family first. And that’s just the short version.
God has really impressed on my heart a different kind of praying style for my husband and I couldn’t wait to share it with you!
I’m lathering my hair with shampoo the other morning and God whispers these sweet instructions to me: “Pray for Gary – completely cover him.”
I’d like to share with you part of my heart felt prayer today and encourage you to insert your man’s name and cover him completely in prayer. From the top of his head to the toes on his hairy feet. {And rub them for him. It’s not just us women who like our feet massaged. Trust me on this one.}

Father God,
Please give ________ the MIND of Christ. Guard his thoughts. When the enemy tries to discourage him, let him recall your precious thoughts towards him. Help him to always remember he is more than a conquerer in Christ Jesus! {1 Corinthians 2:16 / Romans 8:37}
I pray for ________’s EYES and EARS that they see and hear people’s needs the way that You do and help him to meet those needs whenever he can. Help him to be careful of the things he allows to come in front of his eyes and what he listens to. I pray he carefully watches over the affairs of our household. Help him to hear Your voice and see Your plan clearly for our family. {Matthew 25:/ 1 Peter 5:8 / Jeremiah 29:13}
God touch ______’s MOUTH – all that goes in and all that comes out. Let him make wise choices with healthy foods and speak wisely with his words. Help him to be slow to anger, quick to listen and quick to forgive. Help him to always be mindful of the power and authority of his words. {James 1:19 / Proverbs 18:21}
Give _________ the strength to carry on his SHOULDERS the burdens you have designed him to carry. No more and no less. I pray he is able to cast all of his cares on You and trust that Your grace is sufficient for all of our needs. {Matthew 11:30 / 1 Peter 5:7}
Bless _______’s ARMS and all who they embrace. Let unconditional love consume those he wraps his arms around. I pray he feels Your loving kindness and rests in Your arms. {1 Corinthians 13:4-8 / John 15:9-17}
Bless everything _______ puts his HANDS on. I pray he succeeds in the work you have called him to. I pray your gentleness is expressed through his hands in the lives of others. Help him to surrender his life into Your hands to mold him into the man of God You’ve created him to be. {Job 1:10 / Galatians 5:22-23}

Let’s commit to covering our men in prayer daily!
Do you have a special way of praying for your husband? Please share with us below!
