Can you hear me now?

The cold shoulder is the worst. Especially when you have no idea why the other person refuses to utter even the slightest grunt in your direction.

There’s no long intro here. Let’s cut straight to the chase. Sometimes we struggle hearing from God. It’s like the phone line has been cut and the dial tone is long gone.

Questions. Frustration. Anxiety. Fear. And the giant 3 letter word: WHY?

One thing we will never understand is why things happen the way they do. We can ask the world renowned counselors, seek godly wisdom, and pray until we’re blue in the face but still we can hear a pin drop. Silence.

For years we have asked God to show us His will for our life. For years we have gone running through any door that appeared to have a light shining under the door. And we’ve hit a dead end. Abruptly.

It’s taken several years of pain and frustration, but I’ve learned that God doesn’t show us what He has for us all at once. He gives us one key at a time. One opportunity. One divine connection. Our faith begins to grow and we mature in Christ. Then the next door is opened. And the next.

I read something on Facebook a while back. I don’t recall who posted it but it said, “If God hasn’t opened the door, have faith in the hallway.” Could it be that the waiting is a test of how much we want it and how much we trust God? Could it be we have more growing to do before God can open the next door for us? He wants us to be ripe in our season and succeed in what He’s called us to do.

This life of faith isn’t an overnight process. It takes time. And being faithful even when it requires waiting outside the door. Remember, God’s silence does not declare His absence. Whatever season you’re in, be patient and remain faithful. Stay in the Word of God and around like-minded people of faith. I’m praying for you!

I’d love to hear from you! Are you in this season of waiting? Have you recently come out of this season? Comment below!
